Here are a few quick-fire tips to get you making good coffee at home fast!

 
Espresso
 
Getting the extraction timing right is the most important part of espresso. Every coffee is different, but start with a 30-second extraction for a double shot. This means that it will take approximately 30 seconds from the moment you press the button to start the extraction to the moment it stops with approximately 40ml of liquid.
 
If the above sounds too difficult, the most common issue I encounter is extractions running too fast.  This means that going 'finer' in your grind size will slow down the extraction and give you a richer tasting espresso.
 
Plunger/Filter
 
Don't brew for longer than 2-minutes (for plunger and immersion brewers).
 
Use hot water just off the boil.  After boiling the kettle, pour the water into another vessel before brewing it straight into coffee.
